Drinking water is a serious concern for Dakota Access protestors—but what if they already have a bigger risk in their own backyard?
The map below shows the Prairie Knight Casino & Resort and the tributary system that eventually flows into Lake Oahe. It’s fair to speculate that the casino could currently be discharging their waste into the same water source the Dakota Access Pipeline is being criticized for crossing.
Dakota Access Pipeline operators—through a system of shutoff valves and satellite monitoring—will not only know instantly if an incident occurs, but can remotely shut down the system until it’s fixed. It’s important to remember that it’s unlikely the casino has such an advanced or comprehensive plan in place.
